Your photos never leave your device. What Wallpaper decodes and crops your photo inside your browser; no image is uploaded.
To rank the catalogue, the app sends a small numerical description of the crop (colour, texture and edge statistics, about 6 KB). It cannot be turned back into a picture, it is not stored, and it is not linked to you. If the server cannot be reached, the smaller catalogue stored on your device is searched instead.
There are no accounts, no tracking cookies and no analytics by default. Camera and location metadata is discarded when the photo is re-encoded in your browser.
After the first visit the app and its catalogue are cached by your browser so the search works offline; clearing site data removes them.
